Today is our 8 Year Anniversary!!

Today marks the 8th year since we held our first group workout… and I can’t believe that much time has passed!

Before we opened I knelt in prayer in our gym and asked God to bless the work we were about to take on. To give me knowledge, strength and guidance cause I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. But anything in life worth having is worth working for. Your career, your life, your family and of course your fitness. There have been days when I could not have continued without the knowledge that my God is in control.. if I’ll only let Him guide me.

Not too long ago I decided to change some things in my personal life that were getting in the way of allowing God to guide me. The pastor of the church I grew up in use to say, “Satan does not attack a retreating army” meaning simply that if we’re not following the will of God for our lives, the devil doesn’t need to distract you, cause you are doing a good enough job on your own. I’m no longer retreating. Recovering from the shutdown will be a long trip but I find peace working on the things that I CAN control.

Owning a small business was a new venture for me and the learning curve was STEEP. But we don’t learn from our successes as much as we do from our failures. And I’ve made plenty. I also watch as our members go through their ups and downs, not only with things they struggle with in the gym, but in life as well. While we can’t always provide answers to life’s problems, we can help manage stress, provide a better nights sleep and give you the tools and instruction to take back control of at least one aspect of your life.. your health and wellness. We are here to help you build a healthier, happier life through fitness.

The refocus on my faith has given me renewed strength and I’m determined more than ever to make Alvin CrossFit a beacon of hope in a sea of failed diets and abandoned goals. Myself, as well as our coaches and our wonderful members are here to lift you up and encourage you when you just don’t know what to do to get where ya wanna go.

I want to thank every person that has walked through our doors and especially those that continue to walk through our doors, even when the chaos of Covid has made life increasingly difficult to do anything that looks familiar. Our goal after the shutdown was to give our members at least ONE place where things were BACK to normal, instead of a new normal.

We could not have survived without the support of so many wonderful people so from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for giving us the chance to make Alvin CrossFit the best hour of your day! You all give us, as coaches, encouragement to continue. Your failures are our failures so when you succeed, we celebrate with you!

Perfection is not an end goal. It’s a journey. Never stop pushing, never stop learning. Relentless forward motion is how we work towards perfection!
